The third member of the incredibly talented panel for our Swingset Skirt sew-along is Meredith, whose remarkable sewing skills have graced the blog before, as seen here and here. The sew-along kicks off next Monday, and if you haven’t grabbed your own copy of the pattern yet to join us, there’s no time like the present! You can get the pattern either in paper form or digitally. Meredith has a knack for picking out fantastic fabrics, so let’s see what she’s got planned for her skirt.

Hi everyone! I’m Meredith, and you can usually find me over at Olivia Jane Handcrafted. But I’m also active on Instagram, where I share sneak peeks of my latest projects—there’s always something new in the works! Whether it’s garments, quilts, bags, or home decor, I love diving into every aspect of sewing. Between homeschooling my five-year-old daughter and chasing after my 18-month-old son (with another baby on the way), you’ll still catch me stitching whenever I can.

**My Plan for the Swingset Skirt**
For this project, I’m combining a few special fabrics to create something truly unique. I’ve chosen a floral chambray and a tana lawn horse print from Liberty, which I’m pairing with a vibrant hot pink georgette. This setup means the georgette will sit in the middle, giving the skirt a reversible, ultra-girly vibe while adding extra fullness.
I’m making a size five skirt for my five-year-old daughter. To make it more full and reversible, I’ll be using the main template for the georgette layer and adjusting the outer layers slightly shorter with the lining template. To finish the hem of the georgette, instead of a standard hem, I’ll be using gold bias tape for a touch of elegance. French seams will be used throughout the entire skirt for added durability and a polished look.
As for the drawstring, I’ve made a few Swingset skirts for myself during my maternity phase, and I found that I prefer having the drawstring hidden for a sleeker appearance. However, I still love the idea of adjustability, so I’ll use a drawstring on just one layer—probably the chambray side—and hide it when worn on the reverse. I haven’t decided yet whether I’ll use ribbon or pony fabric for the drawstring.
When it comes to styling, my daughter is currently in a skirt phase, so this couldn’t have come at a better time. She loves Liberty skirts and pairs them with whatever tee strikes her fancy—Minions or Gators tees are common choices. She also adores wearing glittery shoes. I’m excited to see how she styles this particular skirt!

**A Few Final Thoughts**
This project has been such a joy to work on, and I can’t wait to see how it turns out. Sewing is more than just creating something beautiful—it’s about expressing creativity and personalizing each piece. Whether it’s for kids or adults, every project tells its own story.
If you’re joining the sew-along, feel free to tag me on Instagram—I’d love to see your progress and creations. Happy sewing, everyone!
