Sales of apparel and footwear in China and Europe will reach 14 billion euros in 2014

The British-American joint research institute PMR recently released a report on the consumption trends of apparel and footwear in Central European countries. According to the report, it is estimated that by 2014, sales of clothing and footwear in Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia are expected to increase from €13 billion in 2011 to €14 billion.

PMR's report stated that since 2010, the clothing and footwear markets in Central European countries have grown slowly. Only Poland has grown rapidly. In 2011, the overall textile and apparel market in Central Europe was 13 billion euros, an increase of 1%. PMR forecasts indicate that the medium-term prospects in China and Europe are bleak and are expected to improve moderately in the next two years. Among them, the sales of apparel and footwear in Poland and Romania will increase the most, at 11% and 10% respectively. Bulgaria is expected to grow by more than 9% for the next three years.
